Leak-Proof by Design: How Bilonaa Ships Glass-Packed Ghee Across India

On this page
Shipping ghee is harder than shipping almost anything else. It is heavy, it is fat, it is packed in glass, and in an Indian summer it changes state inside the jar — solid in the morning, half-liquid by afternoon, solid again at night. A courier network that handles books and t-shirts perfectly can still fail a ghee parcel. So at Bilonaa we designed the parcel first and chose the courier second.
The seal comes before the box. Every jar is filled, capped, and then sealed at the rim so the lid physically cannot turn in transit. Only after that seal is checked does the jar move to packing. This is the single most important step: almost every leak complaint in this category traces back to a cap that loosened over three days of vibration, not to a box that was crushed.
Cushioning that assumes the worst. Each jar is wrapped, corner-protected and placed in a corrugated box with filler on all six sides — including under the base, which is where drops actually land. The rule we follow is simple: if you shake the sealed box next to your ear and hear movement, it goes back to be repacked. Nothing inside should be able to travel even a centimetre.
The 5 ltr pack ships differently. At five litres, glass stops being sensible, so that size travels in a food-grade stainless steel dolchi with a clamped, taped lid. It is unbreakable, it survives rough handling, and it arrives as a vessel your kitchen keeps using long after the ghee is finished.
Heat is managed, not ignored. Bilonaa ghee is made in Bikaner, where summer is not a theory. Ghee melting inside a sealed jar is completely harmless — it re-solidifies on your shelf and may set with a slightly different grain pattern. What matters is that heat never meets an open seam. Our packing assumes the parcel will sit in a hot van for hours, because it usually will.
Where we ship and how long it takes. We dispatch pan-India through reputed courier partners. Metro addresses typically receive in two to four working days, and smaller towns in four to six. Every order gets a tracking ID and a status link, and you can follow the parcel from dispatch to delivery from your account page instead of chasing a helpline.
COD or UPI — both are first-class. A lot of ghee buyers are buying a premium food item from an unfamiliar brand for the first time, and asking them to prepay is asking for trust they have not been given yet. So we keep cash on delivery open alongside UPI. UPI orders move into packing slightly faster and let us confirm instantly, but COD is not a second-class checkout at Bilonaa.
What to check the moment your parcel arrives. Look at the outer box for oil stains, check that the rim seal is intact, and confirm the batch date and the FSSAI licence number 22226025000262 on the label. Open the jar and smell it — real bilonaa ghee announces itself the second the lid comes off, with a warm, nutty, slightly caramelised aroma that no factory ghee reproduces.
If something is wrong, tell us the same day. Photograph the outer box before you unpack fully, then the jar. With those two photographs we can raise the claim and send a replacement without an argument. A leaked parcel is not an acceptable cost of doing business in a food category — it is a packing failure we want to see so we can fix it.
Slow food, careful logistics. It takes roughly thirty litres of A2 Rathi cow milk and a full morning of hand churning to fill one litre jar. It would be absurd to spend that much care in the kitchen and then hand the jar to a random box. The packing is the last step of the bilonaa method, and we treat it that way.
"It would be absurd to hand-churn ghee for a whole morning and then trust it to a random box."

FAQs
Quick answers
How long does Bilonaa delivery take?
Metro cities usually receive in two to four working days and smaller towns in four to six, counted from dispatch. Every order carries a tracking ID you can follow from your account page.
Do you offer cash on delivery?
Yes. Both COD and UPI are available at checkout. UPI orders move into packing marginally faster, but COD is fully supported for first-time buyers who prefer to pay on arrival.
What if the ghee melts during shipping?
Melting is harmless. Ghee is a stable fat that simply re-solidifies on your shelf, sometimes with a different grain pattern. Since the jar is rim-sealed, melting never causes a leak.
What should I do if my parcel leaks?
Photograph the outer box before unpacking further, then the jar, and contact us the same day. With those photos we raise a claim and send a replacement — we treat leaks as a packing failure, not an acceptable loss.
Is the 5 litre pack shipped in glass?
No. Five litres of ghee in glass is heavy and fragile, so that size ships in a clamped, tape-sealed food-grade stainless steel dolchi that survives rough handling and stays useful in your kitchen.
Do you ship all over India?
Yes, we dispatch pan-India from Bikaner through reputed courier partners, including smaller towns. Serviceability is confirmed against your pincode at checkout.
